Synbiotic

Prebiotics work reciprocal to, and conceivably synergistically with, probiotics. Gibson and Roberfroid first characterized synbiotic as 'a blend of probiotics and prebiotics that valuably influences the host by enhancing the survival and implantation of live microbial dietary supplements in the gastrointestinal tract, by specifically fortifying the development as well as by enacting the digestion of one or a set number of health promoting microscopic organisms, and in this way enhancing host welfare'.
